En definitiva, Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE es sin lugar a dudas el principio de algo grande. Una apuesta por parte de sus creadores de hacer una novela visual 2.0. El misterio, los diálogos y la construcción de personajes icónicos sigue la línea habitual del estudio, que es la excelencia, pero además comienzan a sumar nuevos elementos que aumentan la jugabilidad.
Algo que no quiero dejar de recalcar es la estructura del juego. Se divide en varios capítulos que siempre tienen la misma estructura: investigación y después abordamos el Laberinto Misterioso. Al principio, me pareció que el juego iba a resultar repetitivo, ya que cada capítulo iba a repetir estructura. Sin embargo, el guion consigue que cada caso sea único y excepcional, introduciendo factores que consiguen engancharnos hasta el final de cada caso.
No se trata de un juego para todo el mundo, pero sí es una apertura del género para muchos jugadores, que sin duda encontrarán un juego muy diferente a lo que habitualmente nos llega a occidente. Se trata de un nuevo comienzo para el género y no puedo esperar a ver que será lo siguiente.

Okay, I’ve gone on for long enough now, I think you get the idea. After pumping in over 30 hours, I can safely say that Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a master(detective)piece. I genuinely adore this game, and it’s currently competing with Resident Evil 4 Remake as my GotY.
Its striking design, immersive world, quirky characters, and clever cases add up to make something truly special, and, while it may draw parallels with some great games that come before it, its ambitious and unique gameplay and story make it stand out on its own as not just a great detective game, but one of the best Switch games I’ve played. It’s an unforgettable, mysteriful cult classic in the making, and I can’t wait to see what other mysteries are on the horizon.

If you can look past (or appreciate) the brazen clichés and huge levels of fan service, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a phenomenal murder mystery visual novel. The gorgeous world, wonderful characters and genuinely well-constructed mysteries combine into a thoroughly enjoyable if bizarre experience. If other similar games like Danganronpa or Ace Attorney are your bag, this is definitely worth investigating.

Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE exudes a personality and style that differentiates it from its peers, and each individual chapter is brilliantly written and highly entertaining. Despite offering very little variety in terms of gameplay, each Mystery Labyrinth you’ll enter over the course of the game feels fresh and enjoyable thanks to the excellent storytelling and presentation. It is fortunate that this is what makes up the majority of the game, because the overarching narrative surrounding the mystery of Kanai Ward is often an unwelcome distraction from the case at hand, leading to a conclusion that is less satisfying than it could have been had more time been spent on setting it up over the course of the game. The blurry visuals and occasionally erratic performance can also occasionally break immersion in the fantastic set pieces on display in Mystery Labyrinths and the gloomy ambience of Kanai Ward. But even with those caveats, Rain Code is still a mystery adventure that is more than worth your time to solve.

Conclusion
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a solid follow-up to the Danganronpa franchise that demonstrates a heap of ambition from its developers and mostly lives up to its predecessor's impressive reputation. But while the game delivers an excellent cast of characters and some truly intriguing mysteries to solve, it also stumbles in its methods, introducing mechanics and locations that outstay their welcome and become frustratingly repetitive. Still, for fans of Dangaronpa and those who enjoy a good gruesome crime or two, it's definitely worth checking out.

Conclusión
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code lleva más allá las novelas visuales de misterio con una propuesta que desborda originalidad, extravagancia y creatividad, tanto en su planteamiento jugable como en su estética. La premisa de abordar el proceso de deducción como si se tratara de un juego de acción es genial, aunque no todas sus mecánicas funcionan, otras no se aprovechan demasiado y se abusa de los QTE. Además, no se puede dejar de lado el tratamiento que hace de algunos personajes, cayendo en machismos y paternalismos. Pero lo nuevo de Too Kyo Games y Spike Chunsoft nos ha dejado un buen sabor de boca gracias a su narrativa, por todos esos misterios que rodean la ciudad cyberpunk en la que transcurre la aventura como, sobre todo, por los asesinatos imposibles que resolvemos mientras desentrañamos la trama general. Es una propuesta con asperezas que esperamos ver resueltas en un segundo Master Detective Archives por el que nos estamos mordiendo las uñas.

A fan of Danganronpa is going to enjoy their time with Rain Code. I'm a fan and I had fun in this world. With such a great array of characters and a unique setting such as Kanai Ward, how couldn’t I enjoy it? It may not bring new audiences to the director’s work, but depending on what circles you like to frequent online, this will be the only game you hear about for the rest of the summer.
